This view highlighted the link between water and jobs, this year’s focus for World Water Day. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in his message that water is of the greatest importance to human survival, the environment and the economy. However, even with its importance, he noted, water as an issue does not generally receive the attention as it should. Mr. Ban pointed out that people who have the least access to water often also lack access to health care and stable jobs, which causes poverty to continue.
